Our Children. Our Future. Our Responsibility.
9th Annual Breakfast for Children's Champions
April 27, 2010 . Burney Center, UNCW
The mission of Smart Start of New Hanover County is to encourage and provide services that enhance the lives of young children and their families. The Breakfast for Children’s Champions, our only fund-raiser each year, is a celebration of young children, recognition of their advocates, and an opportunity to financially contribute to the critical services that Smart Start makes available in our community. Today’s young children are the leaders, parents, and workers of tomorrow. The work that we do now to provide young children with the tools they need to be successful in life will pay off in dividends long into the future through law-abiding, productive and creative citizens who will contribute to our community. There are more than 11,000 children under the age of five in New Hanover
County, and the needs a
re greater now than ever before.
At our annual Breakfast, we honored this year’s Children’s Champions .
In addition, we were excited to welcome our keynote speaker, Tony Womack.
Tony is a former major league baseball All Star who is credited with a key role in the Arizona Diamondbacks’ World Championship in 2001. Tony Womack has also created the Cover to Cover Literacy Program in the Diamondbacks’ hometown, Phoenix, Arizona.
We would also like to thank our sponsors. Their generous contributions made this event a success.
