Tuesdays for Tots

An outreach effort where advocates participate in visits to the legislature on Tuesdays during the legislative session in Raleigh.  We use this time to educate the legislators about the impact of quality early education in our community.  This year we will visit New Hanover County legislators on Tuesday, May 19, 2009.   

Week of the Young Child

The Week of the Young Child is an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).  The purpose of the Week of the Young Child is to Bring Communities Together for Children by focusing public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to plan how we - as citizens of a community, of a state, and of a nation - will better meet these needs.  The Week of the Young Child will be April 19 -25, 2009. 

Breakfast for Children's Champions

At Smart Start of New Hanover County, part of our goal is to encourage action in our community that supports the early care and education of young children and their families.  We host our annual Breakfast for Children's Champions, as an opportunity to recognize New Hanover County citizens, nominated by their peers, for their outstanding efforts on behalf of the young children in our area.
