The Provider Wellness program currently consists of 3 different components:
1) Free and Confidential Individual Counseling Sessions
Counseling sessions (typically 50 minutes) are provided to child care providers working in New Hanover County and are available by appointment only. Early morning and evening hours are available by request on a limited basis. Call 815-3731 and schedule an appointment with Mebane Boyd, MSW, P-LCSW.
2) What About Me?
These continuing education classes are provided through the PUZZLES Center each quarter. Groups meet once a week for three weeks (a total of 3 hours) to identify one's stressors, share concerns and ideas, and create strategies for change. A $5 fee is charged for the class. To register online click here or call 815-3731.
3) WAM Group Sessions
This support group meets once a month, usually on the first week of the month and gives child care providers an opportunity to come together and discuss issues they are facing with their peers. This group is open to those who have completed the "What About Me?" 3-hour training sessions.
